Back 2 Basics is a purpose-built family owned and operated Childcare Centre in Maungatapere.

The centre was built on the Taylor family's land. It was designed with the aim to create an open plan environment for fun, education, fresh air and natural outdoor exploration which we believe are all very important elements in the healthy development of our children.

Back 2 Basics is made up of 3 different buildings

- The main centre which was opened in 2013. It has two areas one for our under 2 year olds and one for over 2 year olds.

- Room 2 which was added in 2019 and has been designed for our older children who are starting their transition to school

- The Resource shed and community room which was added in 2017 and hold our recourses and a meeting room which was built for our staff and community groups to use.

The New Zealand Curriculum, Te Whariki interweaves empowerment, holistic development, family and community and relationships.

Our programme is built on this framework and includes the strands of well-being, belonging, contribution, communication and exploration.

We believe our programme empowers children to learn according to their individual needs and interests by actively exploring their environment. The Treaty of Waitangi is embedded in our practice, Tikanga and Te Reo are woven into our day.

We provide an inclusive environment where families feel they have a place and all voices are heard irrespective of race, gender, culture, language, religion, ability or special needs.

Staff understand the need for nutritional food and active movement — these are part of our everyday program.

We aim to work closely with your family, outside specialists, local schools and the local community to ensure the best care and  education for your child.
