Located in Berowra, New South Wales, Waratah Preschool and Nursery is a centre-based early learning facility offering long daycare services for a maximum of 56 children. Located close to public transport, with easy access and parking in a natural, residential area, we are a preschool and long day care centre for children aged 0 to 6 years.

Waratah Preschool and Nursery is a stalwart member of the local childcare community, having served families in Berowra and nearby for more than thirty years. From 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, we also offer short daycare and flexible hours in our pre-schooler room for families in need.

The centre is fully approved for the Australian government's Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) fee assistance.

Services

We offer three structured programs, divided by age group. Our blue room, designed for infants, caters to 8 children aged from zero to two years. Our green room, designed for toddlers, caters for 15 children aged from two to three years. Finally, our preschool room caters for 30 preschool children aged from three to six.

At Waratah, we believe in individuality. We encourage children under our care to express their unique and special interests, guiding their own learning. We advocate for each child’s right to express their views and ideas in an open, comfortable, and considerate setting. As outlined by the Early Years Learning Framework, we emphasise values of belonging, being, and becoming.

Community involvement plays a central role in our philosophy. We make regular use of community resources and work to build authentic relationships with families and local groups.

Nutrition

We encourage the children in our care to nourish their bodies and minds with wholesome food. Via our Kids Gourmet Food service, we provide nutritious meals for every child, every day.

Our vibrant outdoor spaces feature a sandpit, garden, playground, and plenty of open space for children to express their curiosity.

Communication is crucial at Waratah Preschool and Nursery. We take family feedback seriously, believing that a child’s learning and development is shaped by family ideas, traditions, and cultures. Each day, we provide children with three healthy meals—morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. These are designed to align with Australian Food Authority standards. With medical documentation, we are able to cater for children with allergies or special dietary requirements. 

Grounds

At Kids in the Sky, we have access to fantastic indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Children are encouraged to explore outdoors, learning about nature and the environment. Inside, our learning spaces are equipped with a range of educational tools, toys, and resources, which our educators use in the delivery of curriculum programs. 

Communication

Our talented educators watch, listen, and talk to children, taking note of their interests and academic progress. Educators take photos and create portfolios for each child, and they share these records with children’s parents and families both at our centre and via our digital communication platform. Our educators work to maintain frequent communication with children’s families, and parents are always welcome to speak with educators at drop-off and pick-up times.

The centre changed hands in early 2017, it was formerly known as Golden Days Kindergarten. Under new management the centre has been renovated and upstyled to offer a boutique environment for children. New resources have been included in the renovation, many of which were chosen for their unique characteristics which are unsurpassed in many childcare centres.
