Possums Community Preschool is a non-profit, community-operated preschool. We opened in 1986 and have been educating and caring for children from across the Tweed Shire for the past 28 years.

The service is managed by the parents of the children attending, and by community members who are committed to the quality of our children’s education and care.

We encourage parents to be as involved as possible in the operation of the preschool and in the development of the program. The more each parent or carer cares about the quality of their child’s education and experiences, the more successful the preschool will be.

Little Grommets OOSHC Centre provides before and after school care for children ages 4-13, in a comfortable and secure setting. Our mission is to create an extended family for your child to feel at home and cherished. Before-school is available for 2 hours and daily vacation care is also available.  

Services

Little Grommets nurtures a home away from home environment for all children, providing opportunities for fun, quite time and homework completion. Children enjoy climbing ropes, sandpits and plenty of grass to run and play and expend energy. The centre is purpose designed to provide a nurturing and secure environment that lets parents balance their lifestyle between contributing to the community as well as providing for their child’s development. Our programmes are focussed on stimulation, education and a consistent approach to each child’s personal growth.
 
We also offer a homework hub to help children with their educational needs. We have a maximum limit of 30 places to allow staff to concentrate on the needs of each child.
 
Nutrition policy

All children are encouraged to enjoy a healthy, nutritious afternoon tea with plenty of liquids available throughout their stay. Snacks are created around the best guidelines for children’s needs at each age of development with a focus on in-season fruit and vegetables, which the children help prepare.   

Grounds

As a purpose built facility, Little Grommets environment is designed to allow for outdoor activities that encourage children to fully explore their physical limits and to enjoy a range of sports and exercise.

The centre is built around family communication and works closely to build a connection between the child, the centre and parents.

Smiley Tots Preschool & Early Learning is a long day-care centre located Wommin Bay Road, Chinderah New South Wales. The centre offers long day-care for a maximum of 75 children aged from infancy (six weeks) to school age.

Smiley Tots Preschool & Early Learning, we understand that every child is a unique individual requiring their own time and method to develop their full potential. We believe that a child’s development is a dynamic, complex, holistic, and intricately interwoven process influenced by many socio-cultural factors. We strive to provide the best opportunity for each of them to flourish. As an educator, we must support the children and encourage them to reach their highest potential and be the best they can.

Services

We take children from the age of infancy to school age – we have age-appropriate activities for all children under our care. To prepare the children for school, we have a comprehensive school readiness program designed and delivered by qualified and highly experienced Early Childhood Teachers.

All the learning we impart is tailor-made to suit each child, as it is based on their interests, strengths, and learning styles. We believe in inclusivity and hence children of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome at our centre. 

Nutrition

Smiley Tots Preschool believes in encouraging children to eat right and healthy. We expect the parents to pack healthy food and snacks. Junk food, chips, lollies or chocolates, flavoured milk, juice, or soft drinks are not allowed. Although we haven’t had nut allergies for several years we would review this if a child with an allergy enrols.

Grounds

We have a playground and a garden to encourage children to be physically active and enjoy playtime. 

Communication

We take great pride in developing each child’s learning portfolio showcasing their journey throughout the year. This includes observations and assessments of learning, art, work samples, photos, and special events.

Portfolios will be available to view in your child’s room at any time. We don’t use digital programming and the teachers are urged to take minimal photos. We believe in having meaningful connections and relationships with the children in our care.
