Mary Ranken Child Care Centre offers 39 places catering from birth to 6 years of age.

Care is provided on a casual, regular or permanent basis for working, studying, respite and socialisation of the child. We are conveniently located in the TAFE grounds, Gunnedah.

Mary Ranken is a not for profit, government-funded organisation, run by a dedicated voluntary Management Committee. Our service also relies on fundraising activities for the purchase of equipment.

Your team of Educators are all highly trained professionals, our Director has over 28 years experience with our service, and we currently have an Early Childhood Teacher, with over 26 years experience, 7 Diploma trained staff, 3 staff with a Certificate III in Children’s Services and one Trainee studying her Certificate 3 in Early Childhood.  All staff have current Covid Immunisations, Working With Children Checks, First Aid and Anaphylaxis certificates.  Our Educators all attend regular professional development to keep up with the every changing Early Childhood sector to continue to provide high quality care for our families.  We have a specialised School Readiness Program and have been receiving great feedback from local primary school teachers.

Li’l Achievers is a long day care centre offering 79 places in four classrooms for children aged 0 to 6 in Gunnedah.  The extensive centre has a homely feel that is approachable for all families. The centre is located conveniently in a dedicated building, with parking available on site for easy drop off and pick up.  

Services

Li’l Achievers staff believe that a child's early years are instrumental in shaping the adult the child will become and are committed to providing  that child with the greatest possible start.

The centre uses a home-like environment as a basis for the children’s experiences and has created a structure and atmosphere that reflects consistency between centre and home. 

Their philosophy is to provide learning through caring, just like home, with plenty of opportunities for self-directed play.  The well-developed curriculum intrinsically motivates children to explore and discover. Incursions such as puppet shows, cooking classes and a slip and slide add extra fun to the children’s days. 

At Li’l Achievers, educators strive to find the perfect balance between structured and free play while maintaining a flexible attitude that considers each child’s individual needs. 

Grounds

The outdoor space has been carefully designed to encourage children’s natural curiosity while providing a range of play based learning opportunities. The grounds consist of a large sandpit, vegetables gardens for children to discover where their food comes from, bike tracks and plenty of space for children to explore and stretch their limits.  

Nutrition Policy

Li’l achievers have a policy of nutritious, healthy and balanced meal plans, with children encouraged to try different tastes to develop positive eating habits.  

Water is the only drink on the premises.  All special diets and allergies are carefully adhered to, in consultation with parents and families and children are encouraged to introduce their own special family meals.  

Communication

Li’l Achievers staff keep daily records for each child, as well as a portfolio with samples of children’s output and milestones reached. Communication is available via a range of means that suits each family best, including email and SMS and app.

The Gunnedah Baptist Community Preschool is a registered three-unit. Early Childhood Educational Service that caters for 60 children per day between the ages of 3 and 5 years. Our preschool invites your child to “come, play and learn.” We recognise that each child is an individual with special abilities interests and background. We have a large newly modified accessible outdoor area providing a safe, fun filled environment for children of all abilities. Our team of well-trained staff take pride in their profession and believe that caring for your child is a privilege.

History

The Preschool commenced in 1974 and was located in the former hall of the Gunnedah Baptist Church, where 20 children attended each day. In 1975, an additional room (the Blue Room) was added to the former hall, allowing 40 children to attend each day. The Gunnedah Baptist Child Care Association Limited was formed in 1986 with an inaugural Board of Directors. 1998 the new extension (the Yellow Room) was completed, and the original classroom was converted to office space. In 2017 we expanded again with the construction of a new room which is known as the Green Room.

The Gunnedah Baptist Community Preschool is managed by the Board of Directors of the Gunnedah Baptist Child Care Association Limited, which is a not-for-profit incorporated organisation.
