Services

At our centre, we believe in the importance of providing children with a good educational foundation. We deliver curriculum-guided teaching programs that introduce children to social, emotional, and academic skills and concepts. Our programs are designed to promote school readiness and academic development.

At Gummaney Aboriginal Corporation, children participate in play-based and educator-led learning programs and activities each day. Children are encouraged to ask questions, practise problem-solving skills, and discover the world around them, learning alongside their peers and educators. 

Our early learning centre is staffed by a team of qualified early childhood educators, who support children’s learning through the delivery of high-quality curriculum-led teaching programs. Our educators are proud to be a part of helping children learn and grow. 

Nutrition policy

At Gummaney Aboriginal Corporation, we recognise the importance of good health and nutrition in the early years. We introduce children to health and nutrition concepts, including these as part of our daily teaching programs. 

We ask parents to provide children with nutritious snacks and lunches, including fruits, vegetables, and other healthy food items. All meals should align with the nutrition requirements set by the Australian Dietary Guidelines. 

Grounds

At Gummaney Aboriginal Corporation, we have great learning spaces. Outdoors, we have plenty of open space, where children can discover the natural environment and learn sustainability concepts. 

We also have great indoor learning facilities. Children have access to range of high-quality educational toys, tools, and resources, which our educators use to facilitate our teaching programs and activities. 

Communication

At Gummaney Aboriginal Corporation, we recognise the important role of families in early childhood education. We communicate regularly with children’s families, providing updates on children’s progress and centre events. Our educators are always happy to answer questions about our teaching programs and activities. Parents are welcome to speak with our educators at centre drop-off and pick-up times.

A little about our Pre-School '
Founded in 1983, Evans Head-Woodburn Pre-School is a non-profit community owned pre-school. We are an inclusive service catering for all children and their families.
In Evans Head, we are currently licensed for 30 children, 5 days per week during school terms.

In 2010 we opened a centre at Woodburn. Our Woodburn centre is licensed for 25 children, 4 days per week during school terms.

In both our centres, our curriculum is play based and child focused. Our staff are trained and experienced. They provide learning experiences to foster individual strengths, needs and interests.

We work in partnership with families to create a caring and nurturing environment with open communication. Our strong relationship with local schools underpins our transition to school program.

Iluka Pre-School was formed by a Community Committee in 1986.

Pre School was held at the Community Hall until in 1991 new premises were completed in Micalo Street. The community raised $50,000 to build the new school.

Without the determined effort of those people from previous committees the Iluka 
Pre School would not be a reality today.

Today the Iluka Pre School is still a community run organization employing dedicated and motivated staff to provide quality education and care to preschool age children.

Each year a group of parents has the responsibility of forming both a Management Committee and Fundraising Committee, responsible for the overall management of the Centre and the raising of money respectively.

The Iluka Pre School comes under the direction of the Department of Education & Communities (DEC).  Their main function is being to regulate the standard of care and safety in preschools and to determine the level of funding.

Today the Iluka preschool continues to grow in strength and we now open 4 days a week.  We have made some amazing changes to our preschool in the last 18months we now have a cubby house, vegetable garden, stage, new cover on our bike track and new murals.

Nurture One Arthur Street Children’s Centre is conveniently located close to the CBD and is open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. Our care and education centre is large however has been designed to create an intimate homelike feel to encourage children to feel comfortable in their learning environment.

Our outdoor playscape encourages interaction and growth through different experiences.All children are given the opportunity to help out in the centre’s vegetable & herb garden, helping with planting, watering and harvesting the produce. The produce is then used in our daily meals. This is a fantastic sense of belonging and identity that gives the children a true sense of pride and achievement.

Nutritious homemade meals are prepared on the premises on a daily basis with specific food requirements catered for.

We strongly believe in and value the benefits of play-based learning, and have adopted the Early Years Learning Framework at our centre. We also value the interaction of families with their children, and support families in their role as the child’s first teachers.

Nurturing our children and helping them to grow and learn during their time with us is what we really love doing and is why our centre is such a happy place.

Our centre prides itself on providing a high-quality standard of care for children from birth to six years of age. We focus on developing the whole child, by creating an environment that encourages each child to be their best self.

Our staff are qualified in following the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which takes into account each child’s individual development needs. We believe that every child is unique, so we tailor our curriculum to each child’s needs and abilities.

Grounds
We offer 6 rooms that cater to each age group – from Nursery through to Kindergarten/Preschool. Our classrooms are equipped with high-quality equipment such as computers and toys which will help your child develop their motor skills while they play with friends ad interact with their teachers.

The outdoor play area is designed so that it can accommodate all of our children - including those with special needs, who may need extra support or assistance while they are playing outside. We have a lovely little veggie patch which is very popular among our children. 

In addition, we have chickens that are free-range in an enclosed yard so that they are not disturbed by other animals or humans when they are out grazing on their food supply.

Nutritional Policy
Our nutritional program aims to ensure that all meals are nutritionally balanced, fresh and nutritious. We have a cook who prepares meals for the children throughout the day. We provide healthy snacks between meals as well as fruit and vegetables at snack times.

Communication
We foster the development of a positive partnership between the school and families. We have an open-door policy for parents to have a say in their children’s education. We also keep constant communication with parents through email newsletters which we send to showcase the progress of the kids under our care.
