The Cairns Early Years Centre in Bentley Park is a one stop shop for families with children aged 0-8 years. An approved kindergarten is also located at Bentley park. Outreach services to Marlin Coast are also provided from this centre.

Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday - Friday

The Early Years Centre is free to attend, however fees vary according to your circumstances. Low or no cost kindergarten is available to Health Care Card holders and families who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander at the kindergarten.

Welcome to Mount Sheridan Early Education Centre

We are a small boutique centre located in Cairns. The centre is open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm and provides care and education for children aged between birth and six years.

Our qualified educators and assistants are trained in early childhood development and our centre is designed and equipped to meet the unique needs of children in each appropriate age range.

Our centre is a home away from home for all of our families with a warm, nurturing environment where our caring educators go above and beyond to ensure that your child is nurtured and cared for.

We have a wonderful Early Childhood Teacher that supports our centres curriculum and Queensland Government Supported Kindergarten Program.

As well as offering nappies and nutritious meals for morning and afternoon tea, the centre also provides age appropriate development programs based on the Early Years Learning Framework.

Mount Sheridan Early Education Centre also boasts specialised dance classes with Miss Tutu once a month for children over 2 years, an interactive computer in the kindergarten room and a beautifully presented sensory garden.

A tuckshop service is available daily for the convenience of our families and a hair dressing service in-centre is available every fortnight for a small fee.

Cairns South Early Learning Centre provides quality childcare and early learning education to infants and children ranging in age from six weeks to school age.

Services

At Cairns South Early Learning Centre, our educators are qualified, professional, enthusiastic and caring. We aim to provide a warm and supportive environment reminiscent of a home away from home. Our skilled teachers and educators work closely with families to ensure your child’s interests and abilities are incorporated into our programs. Our goal is to ensure your child feels safe and secure in our care, while at the same time acquiring lifelong skills.

We provide complimentary door-to-door transportation service to make life easier for families, as well as after school and before school care, vacation care, and occasional care for FIFO workers.

We have three programs. One for 0-2 years which has an emphasis on creating a home away from home, building relationships and reaching new milestones. The 2-4 years program is for developing children’s play and learning experiences, with the 3–4-year-olds also working in conjunction with an early childhood education teacher to prepare them for kindergarten and preschool. In our 4–5-year class we have a qualified teacher presenting a preschool kindergarten stand alone program in conjunction with government guidelines.

Nutritional Policy

At Cairns South Early Learning Centre, we have an onsite chef who prepares and serves tasty, balanced meals, as well as fresh fruit and other good snacks. The Chef selects ingredients for meals from local sources and we have a rotating four-week menu of multicultural hot meals and an extensive selection of breakfast and afternoon tea. Cooking classes are sometimes held for children, and we adhere to any necessary dietary restrictions and allergies.

Grounds

The grounds at Cairns South Early Learning Centre is new and provides large grassed areas for children to play and run around. We have plenty of shade from trees and sails, as well as gardens, walkways, steppers, decks, bridges, forts, sandpits and bike tracks. There’s also a sun-safe water park for warmer weather play.
