Long Day Care
OUR PHILOSOPHY Riverhills Childcare Centre and Kindergarten strongly believe in the value of diversity and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual by focusing on the values, culture, beliefs, abilities and language of all children in our care. Inclusivity is a vital part of what we offer and all programs and learning opportunities are accessible to children regardless of physical or cognitive abilities or challenges. We acknowledge the original custodians of the land on which we learn and play, the Turrbal and Yuggera people along with their Elders past and present. We recognise and respect the continuing culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the contribution they make to life in this region. Here at Riverhills Childcare Centre and Kindergarten we have a significant focus on the environment and, as such, make every effort to commit to sustainable practices. In our centre, we believe that families are children's first educators and as such, connections between home and care are of vital importance. We make a genuine commitment to open communication and relationship building with our children and their families. While we'll always strive to achieve this, we want to get the basics right with confident and capable educators who love their job; high standards of communication; a centre that is always kept clean and hygienic; healthy meals for active, growing bodies; and an environment filled with happy children who feel safe and valued. We have rebranded our centre and this reflects our beliefs in relation to our centre. Our new logo represents a whole range of concepts that relates to early childhood education and our child-oriented focus. The colours reflect those of the outcomes covered in the Early Years Learning Framework while the six segments represent the facets of the whole child that we hope to develop by leading their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and moral growth. The globe shape demonstrates the multicultural, diverse and inclusive dimension of our enrolled children and community while the child itself reaches for a star, just as we will aid them in reaching their full potential. The blue 'river' with the green 'hills' accentuates aspects of our location and embraces the concept of being a community rather than just a word. Pink is considered by many to be a nurturing colour and therefore seemed fitting to round out the logo returning the focus to that of the child. Integrating the word kindergarten into the logo demonstrates our offering of a government approved kindergarten program, rather than simply being a childcare service.
