Located in Drouin, Victoria, Sparrow Early Learning Drouin is a centre-based early learning centre offering a range of services, including:

As of March 2017, Sparrow Early Learning Drouin meets or exceeds all seven quality areas of the Australian Government’s National Quality Standards. The centre has achieved an overall rating of ‘Exceeding NQS’, implying children at Sparrow will receive high standards of care and education.

We offer 52 places at our centre across three rooms.

Services

At Sparrow Early Learning Drouin, we aim to create a nurturing, respectful, and responsive environment. Children at Sparrow will develop a keen sense of trust, confidence, and wellbeing, helping them grow into inspired and curious learners.

Our team of passionate, long-standing leaders and educators are dedicated to your child’s education. Our Service Manager, Emma, holds a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Children’s Services. Over 15 years in the childcare sector, Emma has worked with all age groups across a broad range of roles, including Assistant Director, Educational Leader, and Kindergarten Teacher.

Families who choose our centre will enjoy several helpful inclusions, including:

We base our educational curriculum on the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which emphasises play-based learning and recognises the individual child. The Reggio Emilia approach sees the potential in each child and emphasises relationship-building and self-confidence.

Nutrition

Good nutrition is paramount to every child’s development. We offer all children the opportunity to stay nourished throughout the day, through both in-house meals and meals provided by families.

Grounds

Our grounds feature wide-open spaces for children to enjoy unstructured playtime as well as a large. shaded playground area.

Communication

Keeping in touch with families is essential at Sparrow Early Learning. We provide for and encourage consistent communication with parents and guardians, ensuring every child’s needs and standards are met.

We ask all families to familiarise themselves with our various communication methods, which include:

●	Notice boards in individual rooms and our entrance foyer
●	Emails
●	Newsletters
●	Face-to-face communication

We will pass on all relevant information about your child when you arrive to collect them each day.

Garfield Kindergarten offers 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten programs. We have developed an environment where children can create, explore and experience the joy of learning. Our centre is filled with interesting materials, resources and equipment that encourages exploration and promotes your child’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. We believe that play is crucial to children’s development, it is the way they discover, explore, and learn about their world, themselves and each other.

We want you, as their parents, to have peace of mind that your child is in a safe environment and enjoying their day. We value open and honest communication and work in partnership with parents to help create the right learning environment for your child.

Kindergarten

Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is available each school day and open to school aged children.  It runs from 7.00am to 8.45am in the morning and from 3.20pm until 6.00pm each evening.

Drouin South Primary School Outside School Hours Care provides a high quality, play-based, educational program that supports the developmental needs, interests, and voices of its children attending the service. 

Set in the dairy country of West Gippsland, the school grounds are enhanced by adventure playgrounds, an outstanding Arts and Community Centre including a canteen, park-like play areas and a multi-purpose courts for basketball, netball or tennis. The Drouin South Hall lies on the edge of the school grounds providing the school with another valuable facility.

Our BER building is used to provide educational programs or all students from Foundation – Grade 6. This facility provides students with a place to learn that is under direction from our teaching staff. We also have a Library Resource Centre to nurture and develop students love of books, stories and language.

About Goodstart Drouin
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Drouin is located in a country town setting in West Gippsland, 90kms east of Melbourne. The centre is close to the main street and shops as well as a train station, bus stop and schools.

Inside, all of the rooms  - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.
 
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our two yards have sandpits, swings, a mud pit, vege patch, worm farm, bark pits, bike track, dry creek bed and heaps of shade.

We also have a cook on premises five days a week and we provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. The meals that we provide are healthy and nutritious and we also cater for children who have allergies to certain foods.

A major focus for our centre is how working with the broader community can help us enrich the children’s learning experience.  We strive to work in partnership with families to build strong community members in an interactive learning environment.
 
Through visits to the centre as well as excursions and participation in community events, we are able to deepen the relationship between the centre and the community, while teaching the children about being a contributing and active member of society.

At Garfield Primary School our students 'Aim for the Stars'. This is the title of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework which underpins all that we do. Through focusing on developing positive learning and social behaviours, our students are continually developing the skills to become positive and active members of the community. Our students engage in focused, multiage learning sessions to learn explicit skills around our key values of Safety, Respect and Learning and this has had an enormous impact on building our school culture into the wonderful culture that it is. 

To complement our relentless focus on developing the core literacy and numeracy skills of all learners, our school also offers a wide range of extracurricular opportunities to ensure we are providing a very well rounded learning experience for our students.

We are extremely lucky to have such a beautiful learning environment for our students, boasting large flexible learning spaces and impressive playground and outdoor facilities. Our school was completely rebuilt in 2012, with our new learning spaces opening for the beginning of the 2013 school year. Our learning facilities are vibrant, open spaces that provide students with a range of experiences in their daily learning that is not possible in other settings.
