Centre Based CareBeacon House Montessori Centre
Located in Dandenong, Victoria, Beacon House Montessori Centre is a centre-based long daycare facility providing care for a maximum of 34 children. We cater for children aged from two to six years. We also offer vacation care during school holidays.
Our educational philosophy follows the Montessori method, which was developed by Italian physician Maria Montessori in the late 1800s. Maria emphasises that a child’s education should revolve around their real-world experiences rather than words, tests, and directions.
Services
We divide our services into two learning groups:
- The Early Learners Program, for children aged 2-3 years
- The Cycle One Program, for children aged 3-6 years
We tailor our programs to suit the unique needs of each age group. Our curriculum covers:
- Exercises of Practical Life
- Sensorial
- Language
- Mathematics
- Culture
By creating a balanced, full, and challenging curriculum, we aim to create an open environment for children to explore their personal interests.
In our Exercises of Practical Life program, we encourage children to work from their own free choice. By facilitating the interests of each child, we help them develop a lifelong love of learning.
In our Culture program, children will gain vital knowledge in geography, biology, zoology, science, art, music, botany, and more. By exploring fascinating concepts about our world and the life within it, children expand their view of the universe.
Our Sensorial program encourages children to develop their senses, learning about size, colour, shape, form, sound, touch, smell, and taste. We also introduce children to the concept of abstraction.
In our Language and Mathematics programs, we create foundations in literacy and numeracy through songs, stories, poems, maths games, and more. We open up a new world for children and prepare them for school life.
Grounds
Regular outdoor play and exercise are vital to a child’s healthy development. Our grounds feature a large playground area, sandpit, and unstructured play spaces.
Communication
We always encourage communication between educators and families. We take all feedback and insights on board, allowing parents to play an active role in their child’s daily activities and development.
