About us

We are a community based, not-for-profit long daycare provider at Skye Children’s Co-op, with space for 44 children. Our centre is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri Wilam people, and we value the cultures of the Indigenous Australian’s and the Torres Strait Islanders. The environment at Skye Children’s Co-op reflects our values and respect for the land, waterways, flora, fauna, and people of our wonderful community. We offer a kind, stimulating, culturally rich, playful, and sustainable environment that we hope will lead our long daycare children into a lifelong love of learning. Curriculum

There are 3 age-specific rooms at Skye Children’s Co-op. Each one has the name of a native animal residing in the local Gresswell Reserve – Sugar Gliders, Swift Parrots, Eastern Grey Kangaroos. We also utilise the reserve for our Bush Kinder Program. The children love participating in these exciting ventures. With the help of flexible-use materials and resources the children play to investigate, discover, and invent. Our educators offer sustainable learning programs, music, and movement. We are Meeting the National Quality Standards (NQS) and continue to improve on our long daycare service.

Nutrition

At Skye Children’s Co-op, we cater the meals and snacks for our long daycare children. We provide a seasonal menu offering multicultural dishes, and we welcome input from families and children. Our menu is produced according to:

We offer child care in MacLeod in natural outdoor play spaces where children can actively participate in our stimulating educational curriculum. Our fully-funded, all day Kindergarten program is led by a Bachelor trained Early Childhood Teacher. We offer a stimulating curriculum with the aim of building confident and active learners. Using a holistic approach to education, we combine school readiness programs with learning experiences to foster the social and emotional development of young children. Our integrated indoor/outdoor curriculum is child-directed and seeks to engage children in meaningful learning experiences that get them excited about learning and confident to commence their formal education journey.

Macleod Preschool is located in a beautiful setting in the heart of Macleod Village. At Macleod Preschool we provide three and four year old kindergarten programs in a safe and secure environment where children can express themselves, celebrate diversity and enjoy kindergarten. Our program offers children the opportunity to grow and develop through play – the way children learn best.

All educators at Macleod Preschool have a strong sense of commitment and are passionate about Early Childhood Education, their work with children and the preschool. They are dedicated, motivated and caring and have a wide range of experience, skills and knowledge which contributes to our rich and diverse programme. All educators work collaboratively both as a teaching team and with families to provide a positive and meaningful programme. We are fortunate to have long serving educators who have established relationships and reputations with families in the community.

Our lead educators have a Diploma or Bachelor of Teaching – Early Childhood, and many years of teaching experience in early childhood services; while our co-educators hold either Certificate III or Diploma of Children’s services, as well as many years of professional experience.
