CSIROCare Clayton is located at 19−21 Research Way in Clayton, Victoria; we are a work-based centre for CSIRO. Our centre provides high-quality early childhood education and care solutions to children between the ages of six weeks and five years.

Services

Our centre is a not-for-profit child care provider, offering a nurturing environment in which children are encouraged to play, grow, and learn. We work to deliver programs that support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. We maintain a play-based approach to early learning, encouraging children to engage in a range of play-based activities to help them discover more about the world they live in. 

At CSIROCare Clayton, we provide a combination of child-initiated and educator-led learning experiences that are designed to introduce children to new concepts and ideas. We deliver curriculum-led learning programs, and we also offer a range of extracurricular programs and special events. These include our weekly music, sport, and language programs and a range of incursions and excursions. 

Our educators are passionate about what they do. They work to help children develop a lifelong love of learning. At CSIROCare Clayton, children play an active role in their own learning journeys, discovering new skills and facing new challenges each day.
  
Nutrition policy

Our centre menu is designed to align with the requirements set by the Australian Dietary Guidelines. Our onsite chef prepares fresh meals for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. 

We are able to cater for allergies and special dietary requirements. We also provide meal options for young babies. We have a private feeding area for breastfeeding mothers, and we provide formula and bottles for bottle-feeding infants.

Parents are asked to provide children with a water bottle. Due to allergies, parents are asked not to bring food into our centre. On children’s birthdays, our chef bakes a cake, which children and parents are invited to share.

Grounds

Each of our playrooms has its own indoor learning space with direct access to our natural outdoor play area. Our outdoor environment features a sandpit, a cubby house, a slide, and a vegetable garden, where children are encouraged to explore nature. 

Communication

At CSIROCare Clayton, we believe in the importance of family involvement in early childhood education. We create written reflections to document learning activities at our centre, and we produce individual portfolios for each child we care for. 
Families are welcome to participate in social events at our centre. Parents are invited to contact our educators via email or to ask questions at pick-up and drop-off times.

Services

At Monash Vale Early Learning Centre, we aim to instil a love of learning and a strong sense of curiosity in the children we care for. We take a play-based approach to early learning, introducing children to play-based activities and experiences that promote communication, literacy, numeracy, social, emotional, and cognitive development. We offer a supportive and nurturing environment in which children are encouraged to build relationships with their peers and discover new things about their world. 

Our centre’s education programs are guided by the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework. We help children discover and enhance their skills and interests, and we include children’s individualised goals in our programming. We work to create an environment in which all children are valued members of our centre community. 

Our educators are talented and enthusiastic about their role in educating young children. Our educators deliver innovative and engaging programs that help children learn to love learning. 

Nutrition policy

At Monash Vale Early Learning Centre, we know the importance of good nutrition in supporting children’s development and establishing lifelong healthy habits. We provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a light snack. All of our meals are guided by the Australian Dietary Guidelines. 
Our centre is nut-free and egg-free. We ask that parents do not bring food or drinks into our centre.

Grounds

We have a large undercover outdoor deck area, where children are able to play all year round. We have lots of open spaces and a playground. We also have indoor learning environments and educational resources.

Communication

At Monash Vale Early Learning Centre, we consider families an important part of early education. Our educators build relationships with children’s families and communicate with them regularly. Parents and families are invited to collaborate with educators by sharing children’s interests and goals and discussing learning programs. Families can book to speak with educators, and parents are always welcome to ask questions at pick-up and drop-off times.

Monash Children’s Centre (Clayton) Co-operative Ltd has operated continuously since 1967, offering care and education to children aged 3 months to 5 years.  The centre operates in the interests of families, who are also members of the cooperative, to nurture and support the children and families in our care.  The centre runs independently, but in partnership with Monash University, based on the Clayton campus. 

The centre is subject to the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and is registered under the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) as a 107 place long day care centre.  Since 1998 the centre has received funding from DEECD as a recognised 4 year old Kindergarten program.

Throughout the centre’s history, Monash Children’s Centre has had a long standing and supportive relationship with Monash University. Monash considers that the provision of child care for children of its staff and students is a vital means of supporting a work/life and study balance and of promoting equity of access to education, thus the centre is additionally supported by a service license agreement between Monash University and Monash Children’s Centre.

We create a warm and welcoming environment for children and families. We believe that the early years are a pivotal time in children’s lives, and that kindergarten is an important and meaningful place of learning for them.

At Clayton Community Centre Kindergarten, our educators know that the best way for children to learn is through play-based curriculum and independent inquiry. Children are guided through new activities and adventures, focusing on the rich multicultural community of our wonderful families. Our program works in partnership with the children and their families to create a space that fosters learning and friendship.

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Clayton is a lovely, warm and welcoming child care centre located in a safe and quiet residential area, close to shops, local schools, and public transport.

Clayton is a very multicultural suburb and many of our families also come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Our educators strive to provide the best care and fun educational activities for development of all children at our centre. 

Inside the centre, all of the rooms  - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.

Our platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have three areas all with age appropriate play spaces and equipment. We have sandpits, a worm farm, vege patch, compost bin, a fort, bark pit, herb gardens and a balance of manmade and natural play areas as well as plenty of shade.

Our onsite cook prepares a very healthy range of dishes from across the world such as dahl, fried rice and stir fried noodles, to keep hungry tummies satisfied.

We celebrate lots of cultural events including Chinese New Year, Hanukah, Greek National Day, Diwali, Christmas and many others. And we value our connections with the broader community and the enrichment that brings to our children's learning. We hold regular excursion and incursions. All our children have opportunity to attend weekly excursions, every Monday to Clayton Library, Tuesday to Bush Kinder, Wednesday to Bupa Aged Care and Thursdays to Lawn Bowling and Zumbini at the centre.

Family involvement is a valued part of our program at Goodstart Clayton and we encourage all parent and family input and suggestions. We also have a thorough orientation for families which involves our educators taking as much time as needed to get to know our new families and children.

MCFC is open 51 weeks in the year, on most days that Monash University is open including Labour Day, Queen’s Birthday and Cup Day.
We are closed on Good Friday, Easter Monday and a period between Christmas and New Year, and one Professional Staff Development Day during the year. 
Fees are not payable on days that the Centre is closed.
