FUN-A-RAMA St Damiens strives to create and maintain a welcoming environment, where all students feel safe, encouraged and supported. We welcome all children and their families, to be a part of our innovative centre, make new friends, and most importantly enjoy themselves in the transition between school and home.  Our focus revolves around the “My Time our Place” Curriculum, that implements play and leisure, that responds to the child’s needs, interests, and individualised choices.

Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity

We believe each child is a unique individual, who will convey and provide our centre with diverse interests and talents to admire.  We will work alongside our FUN-A-RAMA families’, to together create and implement meaningful and valued learning experiences for all those involved.

Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world

Our centre strives to implement sustainability through connecting students with the peers and the world around them. Through our showcase environmental centre, we are able to empower children to be mindful consumers and take higher roles of responsibility for their environment on a daily basis.  Through different practices like our school chickens, worm farms and reusing different materials in art, children learn the importance of recycling and re using, in a fun, authentic way!

Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing

As educators, we are proactive towards helping our children become the best version of themselves possible. Through working productively with our families, will allow us to stimulate growth and build towards progressing the wellbeing of each valued member of our FUN-A-RAMA family.  We strive to create and maintain trusting relationships, and a safe environment that stimulates a sense of belonging for each and every child.

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners

Through our supportive and encouraging environment, it allows children to be self-expressive and let their individuality shine.  Through active involvement in play and leisure activities, it shapes children’s understandings of concepts, and the creative thinking and inquiry processes that are necessary for lifelong learning.

Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

As a team, we are continually reflecting on our practice, to foster and embrace continuous improvement for our children and their families.  Through our philosophy, we value our children to have a voice and express their values and ideas. Waratah All Year Care provides before and after school care to South Mandurah schools. We also cater for kindy and pre kindy children with our Lil' Creatures program, a school readiness program designed for ages 3 and up.

Our Vacation Care is unique in it's design, with 3 different programs offered based on the child's age. This allows for children to take part in play and experiences specifically targeted tot heir wants and interests.
 
The Waratah All Year Care Centre promotes and believes in all of our children as successful learners. Children are supported to understand themselves in a positive way, experience a sense of belonging that nurtures the development of their self esteem.

We believe that through play, children explore, experiment, enjoy and discover their physical, social, emotional and intellectual world around them.

All staff will interact in a positive manner with all children, families and staff within the centre, ensuring positive relationships are nurtured and formed, valuing each individual and the unique contribution they make to our centre. We create a welcoming environment where all children, families and staff are respected and actively encouraged to communicate with each other about the program and the centre.

We will continually role model inclusion to children and families. We will access support through PSCWA and other support agencies, providing the staff with ongoing training and support.
All staff are encouraged to continue developing their own professional knowledge and skills, working in partnership with families, children, communities and other services and agencies, staff are continually striving to find equitable and effective ways to ensure that all children have opportunities to experience a sense of personal worth and achieve outcomes.

All staff endeavor to understand the histories, cultures, traditions, child rearing practices and lifestyle choices of families so we can better support the children in our care. We value children’s differences. All staff support reflective practices, the intention is to gather information and gain understanding that support, inform and enrich the decisions made about children’s well being and development. Our reflective practices will include a daily critical reflection diary for all educators, monthly and weekly goals set by educators themselves and critical reflection conversations held both formally at team meetings and informally.
All staff will extend and develop children’s learning outcomes through learning experiences based upon the Outside School Hours Care Framework ‘My Time Our Place’. We will program and create experiences with consideration to theorists including Vygotsky, Maslow and Piaget.

We will always adhere to the United Nations convention on the rights of the child with special mention to article 31 “children have the right to relax, play and to join in a wide range of leisure activities”
