Halifax St Children's Centre & Preschool is a long daycare and early learning centre featuring 1, 2, and 3-year-old rooms as well as a dedicated preschool program. Each room is led by an early childhood teacher and assisted by Diploma and Certificate III qualified childcare and support staff. We have an overall National Quality Standards (NQS) rating of exceeding and staff to child ratios of 1:4 for children under 2 years, 1:5 for children aged 2-3 years, and 1:10 for children 3 years and up. Learning at Halifax St Children's Centre & Preschool is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. Children in all rooms engage in play-based learning, supported and scaffolded by our team of educators. We focus on areas including social skills, emotional awareness, fine and gross motor skills, fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, and independence and autonomy. Children have access to specialist lessons in French, ICT, music, yoga, and STEM, as well as excursions to the local area. We also participate in an ongoing Food Project, where children can grow food and prepare and eat healthy meals with the aid of our chef. Preschool sessions are offered up to two days per week from Tuesday to Friday, with sessions commencing at 8.15am and concluding at 3.45pm. Preschool can be combined with long daycare. Childcare fees are $107 per day and preschool fees are $34 per day. Preschool does not run during school holidays. At Halifax St Children's Centre & Preschool, we acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional owners and protectors of this land. We are committed to building relationships with our community, including project partnerships with St Andrew’s Hospital Community Garden and St John’s Community Garden. We believe in the importance of communicating children's learning to their families, and use portfolios, day boards, newsletters, and family events to support our family partnerships.
