Parents of pupils attending the Five Dock Public School can utilise the Out Of School Hours Care and Vacation Care on site at the Parents and Citizens Association run OOSH centre.  The caring staff will ensure your children are welcomed and nurtured during their after school hours.  The children will enjoy learning and playing on fun activities and equipment while spending time with friends. 

Services

At Five Docks OOSH, children are supported by staff in all aspects of their learning and enjoy a stimulating and caring environment.  They can relax or play before and after school, with planned activities and free time supervised by experienced and qualified educators.  All children have educational support to complete and understand homework tasks.  

Activities can include drama, board games, reading corners, music, games and sport activities.  A nook is also provided for reading and quiet activities. 

Vacation care activities include a variety of exciting excursions and visits, as well as incursions and enjoyable days in the centre.  The centre ensures a safe adult to child ratio on all outings and safety is paramount at all times. 

Grounds

The Five Docks Public school after hours and vacation care is located within the primary school and children have access to playgrounds, outdoor play areas, wheeled toy pathways and gardens.  The children have plenty of room to release energy and stretch their physical limitations in a safe and supervised environment. 

Nutrition Policy

The eating policy is reviewed regularly by centre staff and the parent sub-committee to ensure all menus comply with Healthy Eating Standards.  Healthy snacks are served in the afternoon with a determination not to replace dinner provided at home by parents. 
Children are served breakfast such as cereal, toast, pancakes, fruit and eggs, a light afternoon tea and a late snack which is served at 5.30pm.

Communication

Parents can discuss their child’s needs and progress with staff at drop off and pick up, or contact the centre through email or the best communication method that suits them.  All parents must sign their children in and out.
